This time, we introduce the new artist Faerybabyy—based in California.
She has been drawing significant attention in the United States with a unique blend of post-punk, surf goth, and hypnagogy punk.
Here in Japan, she is even referred to as a “Fantasy Gal Post-Punk” artist.

In this article, we delve into Faerybabyy’s allure through the interplay between Aria, a researcher with deep musical expertise, and the enigmatic creature PuniPon, who strives to understand things in her own quirky way.
Although naturally shy and introverted, Faerybabyy has already garnered a passionate fanbase with her upbeat, pop-infused music and fashion.
Through their conversation, we present both the unique world she creates and the emotions behind her latest album, Jabbermouth.
Please note: This project is our new challenge at A-inde/BELONG Media—to see just how much of music’s magic we can convey through a character-driven column.

Who is Faerybabyy?

“Faerybabyy (real name: Peyton Morse) hails from Conroe, Texas. She has chosen not to disclose her age. In 2021, she began her musical career under the name Faerybabyy. Before embarking on her solo career, she played bass in a band called Castle Beat. Known as a shy and introverted artist, she enjoys various forms of art including music, knitting, and painting. Renowned for her gentle personality and unique fashion sense, she loves cosplay and dress-up games. A fan of anime and Japanese films, she adores director Hiroaki Yoshida’s The Twilight of Cockroaches and Studio Ghibli works—her room is decorated with four Ghibli posters. The name “Faerybabyy” originates from her fascination with fairies; as a child, she built a fairy house in her backyard and was particularly enamored with the TV drama Fairy Tale Theater starring Sherry Dubal.”

About Faerybabyy’s Musical Style

“Faerybabyy describes her music as a mix of post-punk, ‘surf goth,’ and ‘hypnagogy punk.’ She is an independent artist who creates music based on her own convictions.”

Faerybabyy’s Creative Process and Visuals

“Her creative philosophy is to cherish the ‘magic of the first day.’ She adopts her initial creations as they are, and if a song doesn’t turn out well, she lets it go without overthinking and moves on. Typically, she completes a song within 2 to 8 hours. When writing, she visualizes her music like a movie, jotting down all her lyrics on a smartphone’s note app whenever inspiration strikes. Her music-making is a collaborative process with those around her. She has always harbored a passion for filmmaking, which deeply influences her creative process.”
“Most of Faerybabyy’s music videos stem from the creative ideas shared by her and her close friend, Francis Iridian. Francis handles all the editing after shooting. Although they primarily use a green screen for filming, they sometimes shoot on real locations. For example, the music video for ‘Connie’ was filmed at a mini-golf course with friends. ‘Connie’ is inspired by Avril Lavigne’s ‘Girlfriend,’ but it is portrayed from the perspective of a woman betrayed by her best friend and boyfriend. Above all, having fun is the most important aspect in producing all of her music videos.”

Faerybabyy’s New Album Jabbermouth

“After the release of her previous EP Lucky Star, she began working on Jabbermouth. This album is based on her personal experiences—there were times when her excessive chattiness caused problems and made her feel like a burden to those around her. The music video for Jabbermouth is inspired by The Wizard of Oz and her personal beliefs, featuring a scene where a witch is defeated using a cross; the video also contains hidden hints connecting to her other music videos. Compared to her earlier work, Jabbermouth presents a lighter, more upbeat sound. This album was created to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming like the members of a male indie rock band she once adored. Once the album was completed, she felt she had realized that image of the man she longed for. After this release, she plans to return to her usual musical style.”
“Her current favorite track is ‘keep u safe in my back pocket.’
Regarding ‘Me, Myself & God’:
During the production of this song, a strange event occurred. One of the two monitors used by the producer— which had been broken for two and a half years—suddenly started working during the production, only to stop again as soon as the song was finished. She interprets this as a sign from God.”
