Geese’s Bold Evolution: ‘Getting Killed’ Out This Fall

Last Updated on 2025-07-16 by a-indie

New York’s next-generation rock band Geese has announced the release of their 3rd album ‘Getting Killed’ on September 26th via Partisan Records.

At the same time, a music video for the lead single “Taxes” has also been released.

To be honest, I was initially confused by Geese’s music.

The post-punk experimentalism of their 2021 debut album ‘Projector’ and the cowboy rock approach of 2023’s ‘3D Country’.

And recently, for some reason, they covered Justin Bieber’s “Baby”…

What exactly did they want to do? I couldn’t quite understand at the time.

However, listening to their new work ‘Getting Killed’, I feel like I finally see their true intention.

This is a documentary of the entire process of sound “destruction and regeneration” using themselves as test subjects.

A Masterpiece Born from Chaos

Complete Destruction of Conventional Frameworks

‘Getting Killed’ is an album where Geese literally “exploded” the musical identity they had built up until now and constructed new expression from the debris.

Frontman Cameron Winter’s vocals stand out amid the chaotic sound of the songs.

The album was recorded over a month at an LA studio by producer Kenneth Bloom, who has worked with FKA twigs and IDLES.

The result is a work filled with confident determination from all band members and a farewell to previous musical structures.

The exquisite balance between new tenderness and intensified anger continues to shake our hearts.

Lead Single “Taxes” Shows New Territory

Prior to revealing the full scope of the album, the advance single “Taxes” was released. This is another incredible track.

To put it in one word: “mysterious ingredients, but somehow delicious hot pot”.

Various sounds are thrown together, unified by frontman Cameron Winter’s vocals that soar high and sometimes resonate painfully.

The album consists of 11 tracks, beginning with “Trinidad” and closing with “Long Island City Here I Come”. Song titles like “Cobra”, “Husbands”, and “100 Horses” also reveal their free-spirited creative approach.

Partisan Records Supporting Creativity

The Power of Independent Labels

Partisan Records, which supports Geese, is known as an independent label for discovering and nurturing innovative artists.

The label that produced Fontaines D.C. and Cigarettes After Sex values free expression unconstrained by conventional music industry frameworks,

and has established a support system that maximizes artists’ creativity.

For experimental bands like Geese, the relationship with Partisan Records, which prioritizes artistry over commerciality, is ideal.

The label’s philosophy backs the band’s musical adventures and provides the foundation for bold works like ‘Getting Killed’.

Recognition in the Contemporary Rock Scene

Their previous work ‘3D Country’ was highly acclaimed as a modern masterpiece, with Rolling Stone praising it as “one of the best New York rock albums in years”.

Paste magazine evaluated it as “the best rock record made by Gen Z”.

They have performed at major festivals including Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, and ACL, and have toured extensively with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard,

Greta Van Fleet, Spoon, Jack White, Vampire Weekend, and others.

Major Fall Tour and Future Prospects

“The Getting Killed Tour” Launches

The band announced their fall North American tour “The Getting Killed Tour” last month. This will be their largest headliner tour to date.

They have already performed songs from the new album at this year’s festivals, driving fans into a frenzy.

Influence of Winter’s Solo Activities

Frontman Cameron Winter released his solo debut album ‘Heavy Metal’ this year, receiving critical acclaim from The New York Times, Pitchfork, i-D, GQ, and others.

This personal musical exploration has brought depth to Geese’s new work.

In the current rock scene, bands that maintain such a free and challenging attitude are rare.

Geese’s music effortlessly transcends genre boundaries and continues to open new musical doors for us listeners. The September 26th release can’t come soon enough.
